Eight-year-old skater Vidhi reaches Mumbai
Mumbai, Apr 22 (UNI) After covering a distance of almost 2,000 kms in a period of 45 days, eight-year-old wonder skater Vidhi Khandelwal reached the Gateway of India today.
Vidhi started her journey on March 9, from India Gate in New Delhi to campaign for ''Girl Child'' and traversed the roads of the country, passing through Gurgaon, Jaipur and Ajmer, among other cities before reaching the city.
Accompanied by her brother Vishnu and mother Anju Khandelwal, she charmed members of the Lion's Club and mediapersons, who had come to greet her at the city's Press Club.
Reciting a poem on female infanticide, Vidhi said she was sad at the fate of millions of girls, who are often killed at birth.
Vidhi had taken up the sport of skating since she was four and has won many medals since then.
