Composite index of energy and agro-commodities rises

Mumbai, Apr 22 (UNI) The composite index of energy and agro-commodities was up by 2,827.25 points at the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX), here today.

MCX energy improved by 1.05 pc at 3,551.33 points.

All metal groups recovered, with the exception of aluminium May 08 contract that was down by 0.29 pc at Rs 120.50 per kg. Among zinc contracts that recovered impressively, April 08 contract was up by 1.53 pc at Rs 89.55 per kg. Tin April 08 contract advanced by 1.99 pc at Rs 873 per kg.

While crude oil contracts showed a mixed trend, Crude oil August 08 contract shed 2.04 pc at Rs 4,408 per barrel. May 08 contract gained 1.06 pc at Rs 4651 per barrel.

Chana and cardamom advanced, while jute and menthe oil receded.

Chana June 08 contract improved by 2.05 pc at Rs 2,587 per quintal.

Chana June 08 contract topped the list of gainers, with a rise of 2.05 pc at Rs 2587 per quintal, an MCX release said.
