CII working hand in hand with Guj govt

Ahmedabad, Apr 22 (UNI) Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Gujarat Chairman Vimal Ambani today said the CII and Gujarat Government are working together, towards their theme of 'Building People, Building India'.

Talking to mediapersons here today, Mr Ambani, who is a cousin of the famous Ambani brothers of Reliance, said, ''The theme refers to growth and sustainable competitiveness through reforms, value-addition and inclusiveness.'' He said ''The agenda for the year 2008-09, includes entrepreneurship development in tribal areas through training people, focus on SMEs, policy initiatives and social initiatives.'' He also elaborated on the major programs like the Buildcon Exhibition, Jewel-tech Seminar on Retailing, Insurance and other programmes, which have been planned to enhance the Competitiveness of the SMEs.

The CCI Chairman also made a presentation on the evolution of CII as the apex industry association, its mission, vision and the stakeholders of CII, namely the Government, Members, Media and the society.

He spoke on the CII membership constitution, working partners, international affiliations and the centres of excellence.

He made a brief mention of CII President Sunil Bharti Mittal's visit to meet the Chief Minister on April 16.
