Autorickshaw, taxi driver's strike affects daily life

Mumbai, Apr 22 (UNI) State-wide strike by autorickshaw and taxi drivers affected daily life in various parts of Maharashtra today.

Suburban parts of the city faced hardship this morning as the interlink to Mumbaikars' life-line were kept off the roads since last midnight last night for a period of 72 hours.

They were protesting against the state government's decision to install electronic meters.

Left with no other options of transport, commuters were seen waiting in long queues at bus stops.

Unlike other parts of the state, Nashik observed one-day strike.

Fortunately, students remained unaffected by the inconvenience caused due to the strike as schools have been closed for summer vacations.

The strike was being observed for various other demands such as cancellation of increased fare and public servant's status for autorickshaw and taxi-drivers owners.
