Acharia urges govt to protect IDBI employees
New Delhi, Apr 21 (UNI) Basudeb Acharia of the CPI(M) today urged the government to protect employees of the Industrial Development Bank of India by directing its management not to unilaterally change their service conditions.
Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, he claimed the IDBI management was unilaterally changing service conditions of the bank employees in violation of the assurance given by the Union Finance Minister in the House in 2003 when the IDBI Transfer and Repeal Bill was passed.
He said the FM had assured the House that the develoment character of the Bank would not be diluted. But he alleged that now the IDBI was functioning like any other commercial bank, diluting its development character enshrined in its charter in 1964 when it was set up.
He urged the government to give the necessary directions to IDBI management not to dilute the basic character of the bank or change the service conditions of its employees.
