17 Tamil refugees arrive
Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, Apr 22 (UNI) As many as 17 Sri Lankan nationals, including five children, arrived at Danushkodi seashore here today, in view of the fierce battle between the Lankan forces and LTTE.
Official sources said the Sri Lankan Tamils comprising eight families, hailing from Mannar and Vavuniya regions in the island nation, arrived here with the assistance of two clandestine boat operators.
After preliminary investigations by Tamil Nadu Intelligence and Revenue officials, they were sent to the Special Refugee Camp at Mandapam, near here.
