Suspended IG in Orissa to face inquiry on draft charges
Bhubaneswar, Apr 21 (UNI) The Orissa government today appointed senior IAS officer and Member Board of Revenue Santosh Kumar as the Inquiry Officer to probe the charges against suspended Inspector General of Police Sanjib Marik.
Mr.Marik was suspended on May 18 last year following allegation of his association with the criminals involved in the looting of Rs.23 lakh from the LIC office at Bhadrak on February 23,2007.
The state government later handed over the probe to the Lok Pal who recently submitted his report to the government.
Official sources said Mr.Santosh Kumar would probe the draft charges of the departmental disciplinary proceedings lavelled against Mr. Marik.
The Suspended IG who denied his association with the criminals, has indicated that he would move the Supreme Court against the government's decision.The senior IPS officer had already moved the Central Administrative Tribunal against his suspension.
