VHP protests cow slaughter
New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) Activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the Bajrang Dal today blocked the busy main Mathura Road opposite Sarita Vihar police station in south Delhi protesting the alleged slaughter of cows near Agra canal.
Seventeen carcasses of cows were found at the canal in the last seven days, they alleged.
Hundreds of protesters were arrested, who were later released.
Addressing the gathering, state deputy chief of Delhi Bajrang Dal, Shailendra Jaiswal said a conspiracy to hurt sentiments of millions of hindus had been hatched.
He regretted the negligent attitude of the police and warned of serious consequences if the culprits were not brought to book immediately.
