Mercury touches 39 degrees

New Delhi, Apr 20 (UNI) The national capital continued to be hot today with the mercury rising further to 38.8 degrees Celsius against 38 degrees yesterday, two degrees above normal.

The minimum remained near normal at 20 degrees.

With the sun shining clear and bright, it was another hot day for Delhiites, forcing them to remain confined in their homes and offices.

The weatherman have forecast that the mercury level can further rise up to 39 degrees.

''The maximum temperatures are likely to increase by 3 to 4 degrees over Northwest India, Rajasthan and central India during the next 48 hours,'' the Met office said.

The Met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours.
