Bill for unauthorised workers soon: Minister

Tirupati, Apr 20 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Panabaka Lakshmi today said a bill for the unauthorised workers in various sectors in the country would be introduced in Parliament shortly.

After inaugurating a meeting on unauthorised workers organised by the Indian National Trade Union Congress(INTUC) here, she urged the workers to unitedly work for their development and for the party. Ms Lakshmi said 40-crore unauthorised workers were in the country.

The State Labour Minister Vinod said only the Congress Government had set-up Construction Building Workers Board( CBWB) for the welfare of unauthorised workers. Rs 25,000 crore was allotted for welfare schemes, including medical and insurance for the workers, he added.

Mr Vinod said the Government would also provide loan at affordable interest and other facilities, including houses to the two-crore unauthorised workers in the State.

The party should encourage committed workers and INTUC should bring all the unauthorised workers under one umbrella, he added.
