ASU busts ILP racket in Nagaland
Kohima, Apr 20 (UNI) The Angami Students' Union (ASU) today claimed to have unearthed a racket while undertaking checking of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) under its jurisdiction.
ASU sources said here the check was conducted with the help of its federal units the Northern Angami Students' Union (NASU), Southern Angami Students' Union (SASU), Western Angami Students' Union (WASU) and Chakhro Angami Students Union (CASU) by setting up eight different booths in Medziphema, Chumukedima and Kohima yesterday.
The union had taken up the checking with a view to stopping the menace of illegal immigrants under its jurisdiction.
The sources alleged that many people were found staying in the state without ILP, but had some documents issued by VIPs in their official letterheads, declaring that the persons were attached to them.
ASU officials seized all such documents and alleged that a racket was involved in keeping illegal immigrants in the state without valid government documents.
The students' leaders claimed that more than 1,000 fake ILPs were detected and seized, while 113 people were found to be without any documents.
