Wheat worth Rs 3.8 cr seized from Ahmednagar
Ahmednagar, Apr 18 (UNI) Wheat worth Rs 3.8 crore was seized by officials of the district Food Supply department after a raid conducted on a flour mill here, as part of the Maharashtra government's drive to curb hoarding of essential commodities.
The officials raided J C Flour Mill on April 16 and seized 26,150 quintals of wheat. The owners used to buy and hoard wheat in the mill and then resell it at higher price, official sources said today.
Following this, the Collector directed the supply department officials to register a case against two peole -- Ramesh Gupta of Pune and Chowdhary of the city -- under the Essential Commodities Act with Ahmednagar taluka police station, they added.
