Police constable awarded life imprisonment
Hoogly, Apr 19 (UNI) The local fast track court has awarded life imprisonment to a constable of Uttarpara police station for killing a person in false encounter.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mitali Banerjee passing the judgement to Purnendu Samanta also slapped a fine of Rs 10,000 or two years of additional term.
According to the charges, the convict had killed one Sanjay Chakraborty in 2003 in a false encounter.
