Mexican President regrets cancellation of Patil's address
Mexico City, Apr 18 (UNI) Mexican President Philip Cauldron has regretted cancellation of Indian President Pratibha Patil's address to the Mexican Parliament due to a domestic political stand-off.
An External Affairs Ministry spokersperson gave this information today.
The spokesperson said Mr Cauldron regretted the incident at a meeting with Ms Patil yesterday night.
Ms Patil had to address a joint session of the Mexican Parliament yesterday. But she had to cancel the address in view of differences between the government and the opposition over power reforms.
The spokesperson said that due to stalling of proceedings in the Parliament by the leftist Democratic Revolution Party over power reforms, Mexican government had requested to cancel the address by Ms Patil.
