'HIV/AIDS can be controlled through awareness'
Kakinada, Apr 19 (UNI) East Godavari District Collector Gopalakrishna Dwivedi today said Andhra Pradesh had the highest number of HIV-infected people after Meghalaya and Tripura.
Addressing a gathering on the arrival of 'Red Ribbon Express' here, he said creating proper awareness among people was the only way to control the disease, which was spreading at an alarming pace.
The Collector read out Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's message, calling for the involvement of every citizen in spreading awareness about the dreaded HIV and AIDS and thereby controlling its incidence.
Zilla Parishad Chairman Ch S Venugopala Krishna claimed that the incidence of HIV, of late, was on the downward trend in the state, especially in East Godavari district, due to high awareness about on the dreaded disease.
