CID to probe into Mamun-Choudhury nexus
Agartala, Apr 19 (UNI) The Tripura government has ordered a CID probe into the arrest of Bangladeshi national Mamun Mia and his alleged links with Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shahid Choudhury.
Additional Director General of Police C Balasubramanium said here today that the CID has been asked to take up the case. They would be assisted by the state police, he added.
The CID sleuths would look into details about Mamun's nexus with the minister and that how he has able to forge documents to get a citizenship here, a senior police official said.
Mamum is alleged to be a HuJI activist from the neighbouring country.
Meanwhile, the ruling CPI(M) seemed to support Mr Choudhury, who resigned on Thursday giving into Opposition's demand.
Central Committee member and state CPI(M) leader Bijan Dhar said,''We have no doubt about Mr Choudhury's image and are confident that he has no links with any terrorist outfit. His resignation shows his sincerity and dedication towards the state and nation.'' However, Opposition leader of Congress Ratan Lal Nath met with Union Home minister Shivraj Patel and demanded a CBI investigation into the matter.
