200 people with criminal records to lose voting rights

Madikeri, Apr 19 (UNI) About 200 people identified by the police with criminal background in Virajpet taluk of this district would lose their voting rights, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajanna said today.

Talking to Mediapersons here, he said those identified would not be allowed to exercise their franchise in the coming Assembly elections in Karnataka.

As many as 12 cases of poll code violation have been recorded so far, he said, adding nearly 90 licenced guns were deposited in the police stations as a step to maintain law and order in view of the ensuing polls.
