SP disbands district units after bypoll defeat

Lucknow, Apr 18 (UNI) Stung by the crushing defeat on two Lok Sabha and three Assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh , the Samajwadi Party today disbanded units of all the districts where byelections were held on April 12.

SP working president Shivpal Singh Yadav directed to disband the units after consultation with national president Mulayam Singh Yadav. The exercise was undertaken to re-organise the organisations in these district units and stregthen it, according to a party spokesman.

The party had accepted the resignation of Azamgarh district unit chief Ram Darshan Yadav and Hardoi district chief Vishram Singh Yadav while disbanding the units. The district committees of Basti, Santkabirnagar and Ghaziabad had been disbanded but their respective chiefs Dayaram Chaudharay, Algu Chauhan and Aulad Ali were retained.
