Six gamblers arrested in Srinagar

Srinagar Apr 18: Jammu and Kashmir police today arrested six gamblers and recovered thousands of rupees in the posh Rawalpora colony On the city outskirts.

Station House Officer (SHO) of police station Sadder Shabir Ahmad Shah said a tip - off was received that some people were gambling in a house at Rawalpora.

He said, later acting on that a raid was conducted during which six gamblers of different areas were arrested and Rs 40,000 recovered.

Mr Shah further said a case under Section 13 of Gambling Act was registered and a challan was produced in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Badgam this afternoon.

Later local residents, hailing the police action, demanded stern action against the gamblers.
