Secretaries Committee suggest for import of Cement
Hyderabad, Apr 18 (UNI) The Committee of Secretaries of Finance , Energy, Housing, Industries and Commissioner Civil Supplies held a detailed discussion on various alternatives available to the Government to address the problem of steep rise in cement prices and prepare necessary materials for deliberation for the Committee of Ministers tomorrow.
The Committee of Secretaries suggested certain alternatives for consideration of the Committee of the Ministers, including importing of cement and cancellation of some of the mining leases of limestone, where the companies had taken them on lease and had not started the work.
The possibilities of approaching the MRTP for action wherever cartalisation was noticed also under consideration, a release said here today.
The State government was concerned about the steep rise in cement prices and wanted a committee of Ministers to look into the issue under the Chairmanship of Minister for Finance K Rosaiah.
Mr Rosaiah directed the concerned Secretaries to hold a preliminary meeting, prior to the meeting of the concerned ministers to discuss and frame the issues for consideration of the committee.
The Government would ensure that the prices of cement and steel, among others, were affordable to the general public, the release added.
