Gokak Textiles expects 70 per cent order

Bangalore, Apr 18 (UNI) Gokak Textile Ltd (GTL), one of the largest internationally reputed textile companies, expects to receive 70 per cent order of the 1.50 million meter for Camouflage Radar Fabric from Defence organisations in Europe, Company Executive Director H S Bhaskar said today.

GTL, is the only Indian company supplying Camouflage Radar Fabric and had exported 30,000 meters to United Kingdom last year, he told newsmen after announcing the Company's launch of MerinoCot range of Fashion suiting and Trouser fabric for the Indian market.

He said though there was stiff competition from New Zealand and other countries, GTL was sure of getting 70 per cent order.

Replying to a question, he said the Defence Ministry was also considering purchasing Camouflage Radar Fabric.

Mr Bhaskar said '' Camouflage Radar Fabric'' can be used to cover tanks, bombs and other defence equipment. Once it was covered with this fabric made of carbon filaments and cotton, no Radar can detect the equipment. This would be very useful in the border areas.'' UNI MSP VV JS1552
