TN: Extremists nabbed after chase

Ariyalur, Apr 18: Police has arrested two activists of a banned local extremist outfit at a cashew grove at Pilakkurichi near here.

A police party night patrol, acting on a tip off, conducted a search in the cashew grove on Wednesay. On seeing the police, the two -- Sundararaj (30) of Mathumadakki village and his associate Sekar (33) started running. However, police gave a chase and apprehended.

Based on their information, the police party also seized some lethal weapons and wooden logs from them.

The arrested were remanded to Judicial custody, police said.
