Convict attempts suicide in Sabarmati Jail

Ahmedabad, Apr 18 (UNI) A middle-aged convict attempted to end his life by consuming a heavy dose of sleeping pills at the Sabarmati Central Jail here, police said.

The convict, Paresh alias Abdul Razak Sharma, attempted to end his life by consuming a heavy dose of sleeping pills in his barrack, late last evening.

However, noticing his body symptoms fellow prisoners raised the alarm to inform the jail authorities who rushed Paresh to the City Civil Hospital.

During the preliminary investigation, it was found that Paresh took this extreme step following the jail authority's refusal of his application seeking a meeting with his lawyer.

According to Civil Hospital sources, the condition of Paresh was stated to be stable and out of danger.
