UP: City Magistrate shot dead in Farrukhabad

Farrukhabad, Apr 18: City Magistrate Hemant Kumar Pandey was shot dead under mysterious circumstances at his office residence early today.

The deceased had returned from Lucknow last night with his 'foster' sister Seema Pandey and had dinner with her in the absence of his family. He was killed by rifle bullet at his Fatehgarh residence at about 0715 hrs.

Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar said Seema had been taken into custody for interragation while the family of the deceased had been called.

He said the official residence of the City Magistrate had been sealed off by the police and a postmortem would be done only after the wife and children of the victim arrived.

The police had not been able to ascertain the cause of the incident so far even as a probe was on, the Addl SP said.
