Universal Electronics Inc forays into India

Bangalore, Apr 17 (UNI) Universal Electronics Inc (UEI), the leader in universal wireless control technology, today announced its entry into India with launch for 'One For All'-- its universal remote control brand that can operate across more than 3400 Indian and global consumer electronic brands.

The instrument works on a number of household devises including the TV, DVD, DTH, Audio player, VCR, CD, home theater or air conditioner and more, said Paul J M Bennett, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of UE BV, the retail arm of the Netherlands based company.

"With emerging technologies and proliferation of consumer electronic products in the country, it is an opportune time for us to launch our products in India," he said.

The home entertainment environment was becoming more complex with new devices and increasing content and there was a need for remote controls that operate multiple devices. One for All combined the functionality of various remotes in one remote control," he said.

The official said UEI had reached nearly half a billion people worldwide who touched its technology every day. It was among the best 200 companies in the US and supports more than 3100 consumer electronics equipment brands worldwide.

He said the Indian market for remote devises looked very lucrative with 300 million households having capacity to buy the UEI products. "If we could get two to three per cent of this market in the next one year we will be happy. Now the device is imported and in the next one year we will set up our own manufacturing plant in India," he said.

UEI simultaneously launched 'Active Support', a call centre in India, which would provide toll free after sales support to consumers.
