TN Governor, CM, Jaya extend greetings
Chennai, Apr 17 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala, Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa and leaders of various political parties today greeted the people of the Jain community on the eve of Mahaveer Jayanti.
In his message, the Governor said Lord Mahaveer preached the path of ahimsa and non violence and called upon people to rededicate to foster unity, love and compassion and promote peace and harmony.
''I convey my heartiest greetings and good wishes to all my Jain brethren and wish them a life full of happiness and peace,'' he said.
Extending his greetings, Mr Karunanidhi and Ms Jayalalithaa, in their messages said Lord Mahaveer preached non-violence, love and exhorted people to work towards fostering love and compassion.
