Three hacked to death in TN village

Tirunelveli, Apr 17 (UNI) Three people were hacked to death and two others injured in a clash between two family members over past enmity in Keezhapudur village, about 80 km from here, today.

Police sources said S Sivakumar (34), his brother S Manoharan (30) and M Mahendran (30) died instantly, while Murugaraj and his wife suffered injuries in the clash.

An altercation between the family members of Sendur Pandiyan and Murugaraj over cutting of trees on a disputed land led to the clash in which both the groups attacked each other with sickles, they said.

On information, District Superintendent of Police R Dinakaran, along with a large posse of policemen, rushed to the village,later, the policy removed the bodies to the government hospital at Puliyankulam.

Armed police personnel were deployed in the village as a precautionary measure, police added.
