Suspension of 2 Oppn AIADMK MLAs reduced

Chennai, Apr 17 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Assembly today reduced the suspension of two Opposition AIADMK MLAs to one week from April 15.

Following recommendations from Chief Minister M Karunanidhi on the basis of a request by AIADMK Whip K A Sengottaiyan, Leader of the House and Finance Minister K Anbazhagan moved a resolution to this effect, which was adopted unanimously.

The opposition MLAs V P Kalairajan and G Hari were suspended for rest of the Assembly session on April 15 for obstructing the proceedings of the House.

When Mr Sengottaiyan sought to revoke the suspension during Zero Hour, Mr Karunanidhi recalled the instance of DMK leader Murasoli Selvam, who was summoned to the House and asked to stand in a box like an accused during the erstwhile AIADMK regime, and said the DMK would not adopt such vindictive acts.

'Neither the allies of the DMK have such a policy,'' he said and recommended to Mr Anbazhagan to reduce the suspension to one week.
