Six nabbed for smuggling goods to Lanka
Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, Apr 17 (UNI) The Q branch police have arrested six people, including a local fisherman, for attempting to smuggle out 53 steel pipes to Sri Lanka, at the coastal village of Meemisal, near here.
Police said acting on a tip off, they monitored the movements of local fishermen and others and effected the seizure of 53 steel pipes and the arrest of Muthuramalingam, Mani, Kunjan, Sivasamy, Muthu, and the local fisherman Raghu here yesteday.
Police were on the look out for two more key accused, Veeramani and Surendran, both from Ramanathapuram, who were said to be the agents for smuggling goods to Sri Lanka.
