Scorching heat in UP, Allahabad hottest

Lucknow, Apr 17 (UNI) With June, July still far away, people in Uttar Pradesh, especially Allahabad, are reeling under blistering heat from now itself.

The highest temperature in the state stood at 42.9 degrees Celsius in holy city Allahabad, followed by Kanpur 42.2, Varanasi 41.9, Taj city Agra 41.2, Lucknow 40.8, Aligarh 39.4, the weatherman said.

Weather was mainly dry in remaining divisions of UP.

Day temperature changed little in all divisions of the state.

Varanasi, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Bareilly and Agra divisions were recorded appreciably above normal, while Faizabad remained above normal. The remaining divisions of the state remained normal.

Meanwhile, the met department forecast rain/thundershower accompanied by squall and hailstorm at isolated places in the state.
