Rupee opens slightly up by 2 ps at 39.93/94 per USD

Mumbai, Apr 17: Rupee today resumed firm at 39.93/94 against US Dollar with a modest gain of two paise from it's last close of 39.95/96 on fresh Dollar demand from foreign banks along with bullish trend at Indian bourses.

Dealers said, ''Rupee paused after climbing in early deals on this morning session, caught between capital inflows into a rising stock market and signs RBI was intervening to cap gains.'' Inflation was down at 7.14 against 7.41 due to few major steps taken by Union Government.

Later, Rupee fluctuated between at 39.93 and 39.96/98 per Dollar during the mid-session, of an early high at 39.92 but stronger than Wednesday's close of 39.95/96, dealers added.
