Rodrigues, Badal greet people on Mahaveer Jayanti

Chandigarh, Apr 17 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh Gen (Retd) S F Rodrigues and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today greeted the people on the eve of Mahaveer Jayanti, the birthday of Lord Mahaveer.

In a message, Gen Rodrigues said Lord Mahaveer was the apostle of ahimsa, peace and harmony and epitomised the spirit of non-violence, universal brotherhood, compassion and sacrifice.

In his message, the Chief Minister while felicitating the people on the auspicious occasion, called upon different sections of society to follow the philosophy and teachings of Lord Mahaveer, who propagated the principles of simple living and high thinking to achieve the ultimate goal of salvation.

Both the leaders called upon the people to follow the teachings of the great saint, to bring about social harmony for the spiritual elevation of humanity and make the world an abode of peace and brotherhood.
