Manipur: Municipal protests interference by militants

Imphal, Apr 17: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the All Manipur Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat today organised a sit-in protest at Mayang, Imphal, against the interference by militants.

Members of eight municipal councils and 12 nagar panchayats participated in the protest.

A Panchayat member said the municipal bodies were unable to work properly as they were facing interference by militants.

The sit-in protest will continue for some days more until the panchayat members could perform their duties without any fear from militants.
