Metallic idols worth Rs 1 crore recovered in Patna

Patna, Apr 17: In a major success, Patna police today arrested three smugglers and recovered metallic (Ashtadhatu) idols from Gandhi Maidan police station area in the state capital.

Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar here said acting on a tip-off, sleuths of local police raided a hideout under Gandhi Maidan police station area and arrested the smugglers and seized the ancient idols worth Rs one crore from their possession.

The idols, weighing 12 kg each, replicate Lord Rama and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Mr Kumar said, adding that interrogation was on in the matter.
