Left Front protests price hike
Imphal, Apr 17 (UNI) The Left parties in Manipur, led by the Communist Party of India (CPI), today staged a sit-in at Keishampat, Imphal, against the escalating prices of essential commodities.
Members of the Manipur Loumee Lup, All Manipur Nupi Marup, AITUC Manipur, AIYF and AISF also participated in the protest.
The organisers said the sit-in protest will be continu till tomorrow.
Former Minister Dr M Nara alleged that the Sixth Pay Commission was for the benefit of the affluent sections of society.
''The Left Front had set April 15 as the deadline to reduce the prices. However, the Centre has failed to to do the needful,'' he added.
