Journalist dies in road accident
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 17 (UNI) Two people, including a senior journalist, were killed on the spot and as many injured when their sports utility vehicle dashed against a tree near Jagdalpur early today.
Local Hindi daily Nava Bharat's journalist Javed Khan (38) along with two press employees, was en route to Bastar to take part in a programme of Working Journalists Union when his vehicle met with the accident at Ghat Lohanga village, 8 km from Jagdalpur. Khan and newspaper employee Dilharan Manikpuri were killed.
Seriously injured press employee Manharan Lal Sahu and driver Sonaulal Kewat were being treated at the Maharani hospital at Jagdalpur.
The last rites of Khan, who was earlier associated with local Hindi dailies Dainik Lok Swar, Deshbandhu and Dainik Bhaskar, will be held at his home town Dhamtari, family sources said.
Bilaspur Press Club paid homage to the deceased at a condolence meeting.
