Govt gears up to keep Patna free from water logging during monsoon

Patna, Apr 17 (UNI) The Centre has approved a plan of Rs 36.95 crores for solid waste management here Patna and Rs 23.09 crores had been allocated under this head.

Official sources said here today that the Centre had released Rs 4.6192 crores while the Bihar government had released Rs 18.477 crores for the solid waste management scheme in state capital.

''In view of the perennial problem of water logging in state capital, the tender for cleaning the drains in Patna has been finalised,'' sources said adding the 'operation clean' of the drains in the city would begin from April 30 and would be completed by the end of May--before the onset of the monsoon.

The state government has also prepared plan worth Rs 980 crores for carrying out various welfare schemes.

''Providing safe drinking water and basic amenities to the masses besides eradication of poverty and construction of culverts in rural areas are among the priority areas under the approved scheme of Rs 980 crores for Bihar,'' sources added.
