Give priority to drinking water: CM

Hyderabad, Apr 17 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the ministers and the officials to accord priority to the drinking water problems in villages in the "Praja Patham", programme being conducted by the government.

Addressing a press conference after a cabinet meeting, state Information Minister Aanam Ramanarayana Reddy said the "Praja Patham" programme would be conducted till May 7 and the Chief Minister directed the officials and Ministers to take immediate steps to address the problem of drinking water supply in view of the summer.

He directed the Chief Secretary to ensure proper transportation of water to the needy villages and digging of bore wells wherever necessary. He asked the Disaster Management Commissioner to release sufficient funds for the purpose.

The Chief Minister also asked the Minister concerned and officials of the Electricity department to ensure supply of quality electricity to the farm and domestic sectors.
