Council members differ over lauding IAS officer
Mumbai, Apr 17 (UNI) Differences were witnessed today, during the proceedings of Maharashtra Legislative Council, over a proposal to laud senior IAS officer T Chandrashekhar, whose work was even appreciated by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
The motion to congratulate was moved by leader of the opposition Pandurang Phundkar. Mr Chandrashekhar, who is the deputy chairman of MHADA, had recently resigned, but his resignation has not been accepted yet.
Madhukar Sarpotdar (Shiv Sena) also supported him. However, Diwakar Raote (Shiv Sena) differed and said it was the duty of every bureaucrat to provide efficient administration.
''Chandrashekhar has tendered his resignation protesting the action of state government, then why should he be lauded,'' Mr Sarpotdar questioned.
