Composite index of metals, energy advances

Mumbai, Apr 17 (UNI) The composite index of metals and energy rose by 2,826.11 points, at the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) today.

Gold December 2008 contract gained 1.05 per cent at Rs 12,354 per 10 gram. Among silver contracts, November 2008 and December 2008 contracts were up marginally by 2.67 pc at Rs 24,773 per kg and 1.73 pc at Rs 24,760 per kg respectively.

Barring nickel April 08 contract which slid by 0.34 pc at Rs 1,187.50 per kg, all other metal contracts were up. Aluminium April 08 contract recovered by 1.70 pc at Rs 1,22.30 per kg.

Among crude oil contracts, September 08 contract was up by 3.70 pc at Rs 4,424 per barrel and August 08 contract was up by 2.25 pc at Rs 4,458 per barrel.

Among other commodities, chana, refsoyoil, rubber and turmeric made some gains. Turmeric April08 contract improved by 1.82 pc at Rs 3,197 per quintal, while chana May 08 contract fell by 2.34 pc at Rs 2,465 per quintal.

Crude oil September 08 contract topped the list of gainers, rising 3.70 pc at Rs 4,424 per barrel, an MCX release said here.
