CM allays fears of autorickshaw drivers

Puducherry, Apr 17(UNI) The Puducherry administration is taking steps to redress the grievences of autorickshaw drivers, including their complaint of seizure of their vehicles while plying in Tamilnadu territory, minster for education and transport M O H F Shajahan told the legislative assembly today.

Replying to a special mention during zero hour, Mr Shajahan said in the inter-state agreement, the administration had sought to permit autorickshwas 16 km inside Tamilnadu's territory without any permit and added when the inter-state agreement was signed after another sitting, the problems would be solved.

Earlier, CPI member R Viswanathan through his special mention pointed out the plight of the autorickshaw drivers and said that their vehicles were being seized by the Tamilnadu police on entry into the territory and they could not take tourists to the nearby areas in Tamilnadu.

To another special mention, Mr Shajahan said the administration would take stringent action against any schools which would conduct enterence test and interview to admit students to pre-kg classes by violating court ordrers.
