Cash incentives to octroi employees justified: Phatak
Mumbai, Apr 17 (UNI) Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner Jairaj Phatak today justified the corporation's decision to reward octroi employees, after the increase in revenue of the department.
Replying to a question during his weekly press conference, Mr Phatak said ''The total revenue of the octroi department has increased by five per cent, in the last financial year and there is no harm in giving a part of it to the employees who have made it possible.'' The annual octroi revenue of the corporation was Rs 4,000 crore before the five per cent increase. The corporation has decided to give a part of the Rs 200 crore increase to the employees, to encourage them to further improve the collection, he added.
