Cabinet discusses May 29 by-elections

Hyderabad, Apr 17 (UNI) The Andhra Pradash Cabinet today discussed the strategy for the upcomingMay 29 by-elections to the 18 assembly and four Lok Sabha constituencies in the state.

Briefing newspersons here after a cabinet meeting, state Information Minister Aanam Ramanarayana Reddy said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had directed the ministers belonging to the districts, where by-elections are to be held, to ensure victory of their candidates.

He said the party would discuss with all concerned, the selection of candidates for the bypolls in two or three days.

The byelection was necessitated in 16 Assembly Constituencies and four Lok Sabha seats, following the resignation of the legislators and MPs of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS), protesting against the Congress's apathy on separate Telangana.

By-elections were necessitated in two assembly seats following the death of TDP MLA T Jayaprakash, representing Terlam constituency in Vizianagaram, and senior Congress leader P Janardhan Reddy from Khairatabad Assembly constituency.
