Bawankheri killing: Maya's Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia to bereaved
Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Apr 17 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today announced a financial aid of Rs 5 lakh to the bereaved family, whose seven members were axed to death on Tuesday here.
The Chief Minister made a surprise visit to village Bawankheri and met Shabnam, whose seven family members were killed.
Ms Mayawati assured Shabnam of stern action against the accused.
She also directed establishment of a new police chowki at village Bawankheri, besides stationing of a sub-inspector and two lady police constables for the girl's security.
In a horrendous incident, seven members of Shabnam's family were hacked to death over a family feud by some miscreants in Hasanpur area of the Jyotiba Phule Nagar on Tuesday morning. The deceased included Kisan Inter College teacher Shaukat Ali Saifi (55), his wife Hashmi (50), two sons Anees and Rashid, daughter-in-law Sakina, two minor grandsons Anjum and Arif.
Inspector in charge, Hasanpur, sub-inspector Karan Singh, constables Vijay Pal and Tahir Raza had already been suspended for dereliction of duty.
