920-MW shortfall in power-starved MP
Umaria, MP, Apr 17 (UNI) Power-starved Madhya Pradesh witnessed a worsening of the electricity crisis today when a shortfall of 920 MW resulted from three units of the 1,360-MW Sanjay Gandhi Thermal Power Project, at this district's Birsinghpur Pali, shutting down due to boiler tube leakage.
Project sources said that a 500-MW unit and two 210-MW units shut down. Two other 210-MW units were producing 155 and 190 MW. The Project also has a hydroelectric power unit.
The 500-MW unit shut down on March 8 but functioning was restored 28 days later. Others units also malfunctioned.
This district suffered a seven-hour-long outage today while unscheduled cuts were effected in most other parts of the state.
