S'pore PM launches world's largest observation wheel

Singapore, Apr 16: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has officially launched ''The Singapore Flyer'', regarded the world's largest observation wheel at 165 m high and the island state's new tourist attraction.

Mr Lee took a 30-minute ride on the S$240 million wheel, which was completed in February this year after 29 months of construction and installation. The wheel has 28 capsules, each capable of accommodating 30 people. It is located on water edge of the central business district and shows part of neighbouring southern Peninsular Malaysia and Indonesian islands at full height.

More than 1,000 local and foreign guests witnessed the launch of the Wheel, which is also regarded bigger than Britain's London Eye wheel.
