Satnami guru arrested in Bodsara case
Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Apr 16 (UNI) A Satnami community guru Baldas and five others were remanded to judicial custody today in the wake of a violent clash between police and community members at Bodsara village near Bilha in this district, police said.
About 40 people were injured and some vehicles were set ablaze in the clash over possession of a disputed building 'Bajpayi Bada' on April 12. Few policemen were also injured.
After religious guru Baldas announced to court arrest in Raipur, a police team from Bilaspur reached the state capital and arrested him along with five others last evening.
They were brought here last night and produced before the court of Special Judge Atul Shrivastav, who remanded them to judicial custody till April 26.
During a religious function at Bodsara village a dispute broke out and turned violent leading to imposition of curfew.
Satnami community claims that the 'Bajpai Bada' is the seat of the their Guru, whereas Swami Bajpai family claims that it was their private property. Attempts even at the level of the Chief Minister could not help in resolving the issue. The Chhattisgarh High Court had directed the administration to maintain status quo.
