Phone tapping issue: DVAC premises raided
Chennai, Apr 16 (UNI) The office of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) has come under the scanner, with the Intelligence wing reportedly raiding the DVAC premises in the wake of publication of the tapped telephonic conversation between Chief Secretary L K Tripathy and DVAC Director ADGP S K Upadhyay.
The raids, which began late last night, lasted a few hours. It was to ascertain whether the office had facilities to tap telephonic conversations.
However, the top brass of the State Police were tightlipped about it.
The raids followed publication of the telephonic conversation between Mr Tripathy and Mr Upadhyay by an English daily. Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, after making a detailed statement on the issue in the State Assembly yesterday, ordered a judicial probe into the episode.
