Novell completes major expansion of Development centre in India

Bangalore, Apr 16 (UNI) Global IT major Novell today announced the inauguration of its largest engineering facility outside the United States, here today.

The Novell India Development Centre (IDC), which was set up in 1994, was shifted to a larger premises at Bagmane Tech Park in Whitefield, on the outskirts of the city.

The relocation represented an expansion and scaling up of the new IDC research and development operation. This new state-of-the-art facility had a capacity to accommodate 700 employees.

Inaugurating the facility, Novell CEO Ron Hovsepian said ''the expansion of IDC is a cornerstone of our product development, engineering and testing, and build-out of our solutions to deliver our best engineered and most interoperable Linux and IT management software.'' Novell IDC Managing Director Naresh Shah said the facility had end-to-end product development and product management responsibilities for several products, and full ownership of the components of other global products.

''This clearly signifies the importance of the India facility for the company. The right blend of technology oriented work, good infrastructure and a great work culture enabled the company to attract talented engineers,'' he said.

Novell also had key technical talent in the US, Canada, Germany, Mexico and Czech Republic.
