DTH operators demand level-playing field

New Delhi, Apr 16 (UNI) Underlining that the DTH industry was still in its infancy, its operators today demanded the government provide them level playing field to achieve its objective to reach 30 million households in the next five years.

They demanded reduction in licence fee and removal of multi-layered taxation, and rationalisation of content tariff.

The regulations need to support the healthy growth of the pay television which will help the government, broadcasters and consumers alike, said operators who today formed the DTH Operators Association of India(DOAI) at a meeting here.

They said DTH should have the capacity to cater to commercial customers.

The DOAI also favoured extension of CAS to whole country ''The DTH industry is facing a number of challenges and needs the support of the government, '' they said.
